SAVOUR MY SOUVENIRS OF EARTH

MY STORY

Entranced

Immersed

Lost

Satisfied

Rewarded

Motivated

Engrossed

Fulfilled

Frustrated

Absorbed and Found.

A normal day in my studio.

Palette knife painting is my preference. By the angle of the stroke and the mix of paint it represents the harshness, aggression, and danger in nature, and with another slant and swish: the fragility of petals!

MY SERIES OF OIL PAINTINGS

EPIPHANY SERIES

A life of questions will be a rewarding one.

SEISMIC SERIES

The Seismic Series initially, promised great things to me. But, it was a hard year for sad, traumatic, and emotional reasons.

CORONA SERIES

This series of paintings will tell stories for generations. Although I started lockdown in March 2020 with a creative block and a blank canvas staring at me, I managed to manipulate my thoughts to something positive. After a suggestion from my daughter, I painted a self-portrait.

FEATHERS & WINGS SERIES

When I was little, I wanted to be an ornithologist. Am I one if I study and paint birds?

PULA SERIES

Pula means ‘rain’ in Setswana. It is also the currency of Botswana. Rain nourishes the inspiration for Souvenirs of Earth.

MY STUDIO

Whispers of Paolo Buonvino, Mozart and Mobi sneak out of my blue raftered space. Music compliments the light, the bright, and well-ordered.

Sometimes the whispers get rowdier, with Uriah Heep and Alice Cooper. The mood is set by the peinture du mois!

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Nearly 40 years of life interrupted my desire to paint.

Having said that, perhaps the 40 years of life prepared me

for a more mature approach to my silenced, dormant passion.

An advertising background assisted me from a small business procedure and marketing perspective.

In our modern device driven world, to access a tool as simple

as a paint brush, is an invigorating experience.
