Description

The wind was screaming. Moon was bursting out from behind the thick, drifting clouds. A wild, black, stormy ocean washed a damaged ship onto the sand. The high storm tide receded leaving the ship, alone, to rot, dry and decay in the desolate, dusty wasteland.

It rusts and discolours in a parched, scorched, arid, and lonely wilderness. The original shape of the ship alters as it decomposes. Parts fall off, gape, and change the streamlined ocean worthy configuration. The process of disintegration is slow. In the course of drying the ship sheds shards of burnt orange powder on the pristine, white sand.

A sad scene of terror, drownings and death is reflected in this stark, desert scene. The bare skeleton of once a sturdy seaworthy vessel is now lying in its final burial place. Its ribs open, and its entrails exposed. Loose bits blow shamelessly, like discarded trash, to other expanses.

The ship captain desperately called for help, but the help didn’t, couldn’t come fast enough. There was no RSVP.

I’m also asking for you to RSVP to the scene. How does it make you feel? Is there a bleak brightness in the sandy desert? Is it lonely? Upsetting? Frightening? Emotive?

The intense desert heat can be deathly and dangerous. The ship, once sailing on salty waters with purpose, is now dehydrated, and corroding. Only the vultures are flying around hoping for an entree or dessert of a stray, dead animal.
