Description

Acknowledging my favoured composer Mozart

A typical seascape illustrating a daily scene of rest, contentment, and serenity, painted in oil on canvas. The four solid, granite corners signify the corners of the world. It is an international commentary on the threatened extinction of Cape cormorants and Double crested (Canadian) cormorants and the black rhino.

This painting is a plea to humankind to energize and refresh all attitude and maintain an active, supreme dedication to the preservation of nature.

The feather quill pen, a passive suggestion of humankind’s use of nature for self-benefit. A written reminder of the sadness in the indiscriminate destruction of nature:  Lacrimosa, Latin for emotion, tears, sorrow, weeping.

The pen and paint brush are mightier than the sword, with thanks to Edward Bulwer-Lytton for the inspiration.

PS Lacrimosa a piece of music from Mozart’s Requiem. Lacrimosa means a day of tears. Listen to it!
