I painted this elephant in 2018, at the beginning of my painting journey. He was my first mammalian challenge. At this stage, I was naïve to think the canvas was large enough. But he seemed to get larger and larger and eventually took up every cm of the stretched canvas.
His trunk has 40 000 muscles, and I did spend a long time working on them!
